Welcome to Swedish Athletics’s information page on Health & Performance in Young Athletes!
“Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not just absence of disease or infirmity” (WHO 1948)
This website is aimed at coaches, athletes and parents and aims to provide guidance on staying healthy and advice on what can be done when health needs arise. The content on the site is based on current sports medicine research or current best practice and has been developed with the help of experts and specialists in the various subject areas.
The website has been developed within the framework of the KLUB research project (Knowledge of Long-term Development of children’s and young people’s athletics) in a collaboration between Swedish Athletics and Linköping University’s Athletic Research Center. The research has been supported by the Swedish Center for Sports Research (CIF) and the Swedish Sports Confederation (RF).
